Sharon is in her 60's! I an thinking----Hmmmmmmmmmm...so, these must really be an older variety! And to me--the most beautiful! Like I have stated--I got mine from my neighbor's yard as the house had sat unoccupied for over a year. Neither of the Daughters were big gardeners, so i was trying to salvage what i could. Felt like I was "stealing" something.....But--I was, actually, rescuing some wonderful plants that were doomed to be trashed. Another one was the two-toned blue Iris. I KNOW these came from my neighbor's father--who owned a bulb Nursery in Southern MD. (Easton?). He was from Holland. He gave them to her. Need I say more? I just love the dark red and yellow in the blooms on this Lily! The petals are also very firm and solid. A real keeper! Now--I have to wait and see what color the Daylilies will be that I gave to Larienda (the bushel-basket-sized clump) at Bec's Swap, as I have 3 pots of the same Lily I planted from my neighbor's discarded clump. Rescuing some--as usual! I don't think it will be long.......Will post pictures when they bloom. They had long ago stopped blooming. Too root-bound! That is why my Non-Gardening neighbor just dug them up and wanted to throw them away. Gita to the rescue...................Ta--Dahh! This is a "sad" picture.....My 30+ year-old Clump Birch came up totally DEAD this Spring!!!! GONE! Over the years--it had lost a trunk or two, but I always chose a sucker to take it's place. I did that also a couple of years ago. Oh, the sucker is going gung-ho! But--the rest of the trunks (4) are ALL dead! Will be cutting it down this fall. No time now..... Gita Here's my dead Birch Tree.....:o( |
