The spring drains into the gravel driveway right now. If I install a water feature, it seems to me that I'd still need to have a way to drain the water.

What's the best way to "drain" the pond? Should I run a pipe from the pond to the drainage ditch? How will I get it to drain if it's going uphill?

There may be really simple answers to these questions, but I'm definitely NOT an engineer and I'll be doing all this myself, so the easier it is to do and the simpler it is to understand suggestions, the better!
