schicken-You're on! lol. The only rule of thumb that I follow, in regard to EE, is feed and water the heck out of them. I'm up to about 12 different kind now. I only have the one Xanthesoma, I have 3, maybe 4, Alocasia, and the rest are all Calocasias. Love them for their huge obnoxious leaves. The only thing that bumbs me out, unless I build a large heated green house, I'll never see a flower from one!

In regard to the dahlias. I potted them up as soon as I got them...it was either the end of March or the beginning of April. I have a large grooming table that was full of 1 gallon pots with all of the dahlias I bought in them. Plus, I put them out way early. End of April, beginning of May. I was able to obtain a few "bath sheets" from where I work. Bath sheets are basically thick sheets, and I would cover all of the pots with them when the weather dropped below 40 at night time...so, every night, I covered them, and every morning (if the temps were right) I would uncover them. I did that for a few weeks, until about the 3rd week in May. I can't wait to get a grow light area set up in the house!

This pic is of a smaller elephant ear, I believe 'Tea Cups' is the name...I thought it was a gonner...
