To keep the line low enough to hang but lift it higher(for sheets,ect), we cut small maples and use the crook the hold up the line. The animals have now taken over that space so my DH made this one off the deck. Couldn't use it at first due to my neck from the car accident but the muscles are stronger now so I can pull the line in or out. I use a folgers can screwed to the pole for the pins!

I've never used the pegs type but the older pins used to be alot longer and the spring seemed to be better. Does anyone know it the pegs work better?
