More usually, Kittiwakes nest on sea cliffs, but this colony has taken to nesting on riverside buildings in a city (Newcastle upon Tyne) 15km inland, the furthest-inland Kittiwake colony in the world. Because they're on buildings, it's possible to get really close to them, and take some very unusual pics . . . this is looking down from the bridge at the nests, and down to the riverside road with cars, buses and people straight below them . . . don't look too close if you get vertigo!!
