TexasPuddyPrint wrote: BST eggs abound! I was out checking the yard yesterday afternoon and counted 24 Black Swallowtail eggs on two of my large rue (ruta graveolens) plants. I haven't seen a single butterfly in my yard for the past couple of weeks!!! Of course, I've been working days so guess by the time I get home they've moved elsewhere to settle in for the evening. Still nice to know they sneak in and leave little presents :o) Am planning on turning over the potted rue plants to my neighbor (the one whose son is into raising butterflies) since I'll be out of town for a while. He'll be thrilled to see the eggs as he has only raised butterflies from caterpillars. He's going to be a busy little beaver watching over all those BSTs :o) Was able to get a semi-decent photo of two eggs close by. They are sprinkled throughout the plants and I wanted to take more photos but the mosquitoes are vicious out in my back yard!!! ~ Cat |
