The roo is a good guy, just very protective. I have to remind him those are MY hens and therefore MY eggs... i carry a heavy fishing net when i go in his pen. The hens free range, since they are smaller they can get out a small fence opening and get out with all the other chickens. Jaco the Giant is actually my seven year olds replacement bird from when he lost his litte Black Cornish Bantam roo last fall. He wanted somethings still black but BIG. So whenever he wants to hol dJaco, i jsut go in and catch him, and he sits and holds him. i will see if i have a picture. We really like this breed and are looking forward to having more for egg rpoducers, meat birds, and to show at the fair. We have four black Aussie pullets that we are crossing with Jaco. So you sure might like this American to cross with your native birds! |
