I soaked them overnight and planted them. Now a few days later I have a white, what looks like a root coming out. Does that go into the dirt or point upwards? I will post a picture to show what I mean...

I have been gardening for a while but this has stumped me and like I said I don't want to ruin them..I feel silly for asking..
