I found they need some space between them or they will grow mold on the outside, making transplanting a bit of fun, but otherwise they're working fine for me. Here's a pic of my little asparagus :) (the plants to the right are some snapdragons I have to transplant before they get too leggy, the BIG ones to the right are brussel sprouts I have to get transplanted today...)
