Within the exhibit there are many exotic species from around the globe. I have spent the better part of March sorting and compiling information on each butterfly before beginning. Here is the first snag I have encountered: The butterfly is Pearl Charaxes, and this is the family tree.. Classification / Taxonomy / Family tree * Kingdom: ANIMALIA * Phylum: ARTHROPODA * Class: INSECTA * Order: LEPIDOPTERA * Suborder: DITRYSIA * Superfamily: PAPILIONOIDAE * Family: NYMPHALIDAE * Subfamilie: CHARAXINAE * Tribe: CHARAXINI * Genus: CHARAXES * Specific name: VARANES I entered the information in the boxes provided and got this message Quoting:The order ("Lepodoptera") and family ("Nymphalidae") are not familiar to us. Before you can add this bug, you'll need to post the details to the BugFiles How-to's forum." The Pearl Charaxes (Charaxes varanes) is a butterfly of the Afrotropic ecozone (Africa). The distribution enfolded Namibia Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa Republic. I will skip this one for now and move on to the next until y'all get back to me. Thanks! Debnes |
