I used to have a very bad habit of sticking broken leaves back in the same pot, so they may actually be 6 plants. As for the name, unfortunately, it's a no-named brand from Home Depot, but I have seen it for sale there since I bought it about 5 years ago. In fact, I think I saw it recently because I remember having the conversation with myself of "just because you have one that you love doesn't mean that you need more!" and its sister conversation of "if you're going to get another violet, get one you don't already have!" and then there's the mother conversation (I say mother because in my head, I hear it in my mother's voice) "You have enough violets. Quit wasting your money on plants!" Those voices in my head can be so annoying! Lin, I lost a violet recently to a weird and swift malady. I'm hoping it doesn't spread. I almost lost all of them a while ago. I finally thought that maybe my fertilizer had gone bad. Sure enough, I replaced the fertilizer and they all bounced back. Susan, I've had these violets for years and I never even thought to smell them until recently. I was standing by the kitchen table probably wondering why I had walked in there, when I smelled something wonderful. I couldn't believe it was that purply violet on the far left. I was just thrilled. Finally, I've apparently missed spring. Here's a photo of a wild violet in the backyard that's already done blooming and I missed it! |
