I think a while back I mentioned that I'm actually afraid of birds, but seeing the pictures of people handfeeding them makes me want to try. Well, I was just outside checking the damage the Starlings did, and my White Breasted Nutchatch started making his call from the tree. Well, here's my chance!! I grabbed some food out of the feeder and held it out to Mr. WBN. Hey, looks like it may work because he kept coming closer and closer. Cool! My daughter is at the window, poised with the camera. Then, when he got pretty close, about 1 1/2 feet away, I got a bit frightened and thought, "what the heck am I doing?" Whew, he flew up higher in the tree. Ok, maybe next time I'll be ready to hand feed him.
