Well I did today add a few but I justified it by the fact I am enlarging only slightly a bed that would be a perfect spot for some and then I found a couple of others and then he had a hosta that I have been wanting 'Orange Marmalade' and then there where a few bulbs for some planters. I sent the order to bleek at who always has a small tasty and very reasonable list. http://www.eflowergarden.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=51 More of the Vision Thing, Victor in 08. I have been thinking about climbing roses or more like scrambling roses. I want some that would scramble, ramble through shrubs and trees, but not look stiff and upright. Clear as mud? Any ideas for me? I am more about the species , simple looking ones. Looking at that old one called Veilchenblau and 'Night Owl' and some white ones and a yellow. But mostly I need to know if any of you are growing roses this way. I have seen this often in books but would rather have your thoughts. So should I try to ramble some through Lilacs or viburnums? Or what? In this picture taken in early July, the big green shrub in the middle is a Viburnum carlesii which is very dull after it blooms for the rest of the summer. I have lots of big green blobs that are begging for help. I have planted some clematis, which are slowly starting to romp. Patti |
