Seamus_tt wrote: Here in northern Virginia, morning glory season is definitely over for a few months. After the vines on my balcony died off, I looked at all of the seeds that I had harvested from them, decided that I had far more than I would be needing, and germinated and sprouted some from the container of "unknown but probably blue" seeds for experimentation. For the last few months, every time I walk into the workroom, I have been reminded of the so-called expert at the "Arrogant Farms Nursery and Garden Center" who literally laughed at me and told me that there was "no way in hell" that I'd be able to grow morning glories indoors, let alone get them to flower. These two enthusiastic Milky Way plants have been growing quite happily in a flowerpot on my windowsill since October, producing blooms almost daily from November through mid-December, and this morning, I harvested over six dozen seeds, mostly from pods with five big, round, black seeds in them. That was only about a quarter of the pods on the vines, with many, many more in various stages of ripening. |
