The root systems are perfectly healthy. I obviously can't say for certain what is causing this damage, but it looks to me like it is dehydration caused by the combination of dry weather, winds, and cold. The good news is that it is not happening to any of the plants under the overhang, on the patio, and in the greenhouses. I removed the soil and some of the roots on this Pupukea Crepe so that I could see what was happening with the base, and there was no rot to be found. |
