PUMPKINS!!!!!
My little daughter brought home this little bitty pumpkin from school around Halloween.
So around Thanksgiving, after the newness wore off, I swiped the little pumpkin, and sliced it open.
Lots of nice little pumpkin seeds. I said, I bet something would love these, and boy was I right.
The few Cardinals that came around went out and told their friends and neigbors, and now they're having a ball. Me and my 12yo son went walking around the neighbor hood the other night after noticing neigbors throwing away their perfect plump pumkins, and we hauled them home. Now I've got several pumpkins just waiting to be hacked open to reveal their treasure. Now, I'm also noticing that the birds actually eat part of the inside flesh of the pumpkin too. Then, once all the pumpkin seeds are gone, I fill the pumpkin half with regular bird seed, and the birds love that too. If it's not too late, and you still have some pumpkins around, please remember our birds.....
