Yes when you lower the vine , it drapes to the side. Some commerical greenhouses actually wrap the lowered vine around the growing container rather it be a sturdy 5 gallon pot or the plastic grow bags. I did not like doing that cause my vines were very sturdy and broke when i tried it. But most just drape them to the side
