The leaves are extremely succulent, being almost 1/4" thick and about 3" x 1". The stems are also thick and succulent, and the flower cluster are usually held facing up- unlike all the other subspecies and most Hoyas. This species makes a stocky, upright bush and does not climb or twine under any circumstances.
