duncanji wrote: Hi everyone, I recently received some beautiful cuttings of kentiana and brevialata from a kind and generous DG member. Before they arrived I had done a bit of research through the old threads on rooting. I, however, must not have done enough research. Anyway, I decided to root my new cuttings in the medium I would use permanently. When the cuttings arrived I soaked them in water and superthrive for about eight hours while I was at work. The next morning I potted them up in water-sealed pots with a 1:1:1 mix of orchid bark, #3 perlite, and MG potting soil. However, this was before I read that they should be cut into two node cuttings and that there should be a node in the soil. Drats! So of course I just dusted with rooting hormone and put them into the medium up to the node, but I didn't actually stick a node down into the medium. It has now been four days since I did all of this, and as I continued my research into propagation I realized my mistake. So I am now wondering if I should re-do the cuttings so that they have nodes in the soil and make smaller cuttings out of them. So what do you guys think?? Thanks for giving me some advice! |
