They suggested this way of starting the brug so you wouldn't be able to see the start when the brug grew up. I started them in a clear plastic thing you put under pots to catch water. That way I could raise it up and see if there were roots, plus I could tell exactly when to water.
Can you see in the photo. Now that I think about it I only got one stem per cutting.....strange.
Now let me qualify all of this, the monster whites were my first and then AuntB shared with me so I am by no means an expert! I am a really new newbie...LOL
