She had just asked me to cut her bushes and said she'd pay me $25. I don't care about the money - it's a bonus. So since my goal was to trim the bushes, I had to clear stuff to get to them and I figured just how good will the bushes look if everything else still looks like crud! So, I cut down all of her perennials - coneflowers, columbines, dasies. Thinned out her lariope; tried to get all of the Virginia Creeper out of the beds that is just growing everywhere and put down a little mulch. The bed around the mailbox had day lilies in it that I dug up completely; took all of the "dirt" out and lined the bottom with weed cloth. Then dumped 7 bags of top soil in, planted a few stray daffodils and then put the mums in and finished with mulch when she got home.
