Emma, your pianissimo rivals winter ice - thank you for focusing me on most successful way to make this vine reachable. Gourd, you wrote, "I have one that...looks like a blue tie dye, large chartreuse variegated leaves..." Welp, I don't have a picture yet, but another incredible MG from PamSue came labeled as Keiryu, but looks more like your description - it has luminous yellow-ish variegated leaves with a tie-dye-like flower with a blue that leans more to turquoise than violet. It's just begun to bloom - 5 so far - you and I will both have to post pics when we get them. I really appreciated the different information from Ron & Sandy on trade routes that some of the seed discussed here have been on. Does anyone remember hearing about the old silk route across what is now the Sahara desert that was identified not too long ago by satellites we've put in orbit around earth ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Saharan_trade ). Evidently, different commodities had their own routes dating back to prehistoric times and linking Africa with Asia and the Mediterranean - don't know when Europe joined in. Wonder if any MGs ever joined that traffic somewhere along the way? This is how us old army brats amuse ourselves - don't mind me. Can you see the butterfly in the magnolia? If not for it, I wouldn't have realized where those vines were flowering |
