The leaves do kind of point up at night sometimes, I think mine do that when it's so unbearably hot out, since our temps have cooled a bit, I haven't noticed them doing that. Amanda, I'm not pressuring you about the philo, you know that. What a fun weekend you had. Mmmmmmm, your food sounds yummy. We had our annual Labor Day Rodeo in my small town... I don't go, I used to, but it's too hot for me on the bleachers. I did help a friend in his bar Saturday night with the rodeo crowd.... The Buffalo Inn, it's been in our town forever. Nothing special, but a place to have a cool one, if that's what you like. Had my Mom & step-dad over for burgers last eve. Now back to this glorious brug.... There is no way you can be sure of it's name. We can guess, but there's no way to know for sure. If they weren't named when you got them, they will be an unknown, or whatever you call it for your personal identification....like "Amanda's Awesome Orange One". If you can remember or research to find out what kind they offered you on ebay, we could confirm that it IS what they said it was. It has great color, but it will be getting limp and turn brown, soon, especially if it is very hot (just don't want you to be devastated when you see it getting wimpy). But, there will be more blooms and then in multiples at once and you will have to have other color brugs, and you are definately hooked... Welcome, we are here to enable you and provide cuttings and info to feed your addiction! I was noticing the transformation, too! That is funny about the "picker-upper tool" ZZ, your description reminds me of those toys with the alligator head and when you squeeze the handle it opens it's mouth. We can't get all the bugs, I spray a mixture of 1 part peroxide with 3 parts water and a drop or 2 of regular dishwashing liquid (not anti-bacterial), after the sun is off them in the evening when it's cooler, on the underside of the leaves, too. I don't mind sharing them with the insects, as long as they aren't gorging themselves. If you see big holes or portions of leaves stripped, check for those green horned tomato worms.... but, they do turn into a brug natural pollinator when they morph from the eating machine to a flying moth.... Good Job! Here is a transformed brug pest. |
