I'm back....reluctantly! It was VERY hard leaving the beach! Everything about last week was perfect! The weather; the house; the company - all of it!!! I took so many pictures of my new grand niece that I didn't take many of anything else!

The house was everything the description said it would be! We were right on the beach - no dunes blocking our view. The walkway down to the beach was flat so no prob for my DFIL getting down there. The water temp was perfect and it was VERY clear. We could see down to our feet in 6' of water! The tides were perfect too - I love to hunt for shells and low tide is the best time to do it. Low tides were from noon to 5pm the whole week! On friday, we took the ferry over to Okracoke Island and went 4-wheeling on the beachin two of the trucks we had. One of them overheated so we had to stop for awhile to let it cool down. NO prob! It was the perfect time to hunt for shells! LOW TIDE! I'm talking inches of water out 30' feet or more in places. Tidal pools everywhere. I was in heaven! I found some sand dollar pieces and conch shells. They had to drag me off the beach when they got the truck going! We ate dinner at one of the local joints then caught the ferry backover to Hatteras.

This was our first time staying on Hatteras Island and it was by far the best! None of the tourist junk that is up in Nags Head. No traffic; empty beaches; no mad rush to the Food Lion. They had a little mom & pop grocery store that had everything we needed. The prices were higher but it was worth it! We will definitely stay here again next year!

I fully intended to get online last week but realized my laptop was dead and I had forgotten the power cord (can you say "DUH"?). I did have my Blackberry so I rec'd emails from work. One I rec'd Friday was from one of the guys I had interviewed with. He was letting me know that due to some reorganizing they have done, they have been able to fill the role I was interviewing for from within so therefore that position is gone. I'll log back on tomorrow to see what else may be out there.

We picked up Murphy on the way home and it was so good to see him! He has grown so much in just a week! He was filthy and smelled really bad so I think he had a good time! He had crusty spots all over his back which I realized was slobber from the other dogs! Gotta love it! It promptly went in the tub when we got home and settled and he smells 100 times better! He's now conked out on the floor and I don't expect him to move till morning!!

Got home to a lot of dried up plants and mammoth gourd vines. They certainly didn't suffer from the lack of water! The dead plants I'm ok with. It's getting to be that time where I pull it all up and call it a night! I do have a gorgeous morning glory that is finally blooming. I've posted a pic below.

Well, tomorrow will be laundry day and get the kids ready for school on Tuesday. I will try to check in and see how everyone is doing.

I'm glad to be back (really!)
