The cats are so hard to find on in-ground pentas, they have so many places to hide. Plus like you said, they blend in with mulch. I figure keeping some plants near or on your observation area might increase your chances of finding one or 2 yourself. This evening we went to help my DD move some furniture and I noticed her cannas were chewed on pretty good, so naturally I scouted to see if I could find any brazilian skippers. Sure enough I found 2 good chrysalids, and one not so good. One of the 2 would vibrate rapidly in the rolled up leaf every time I tried to have a look, lol. It kinda freaked me out at first. Man, those little guys are v e r y quick! Here is one of the 2 good ones I brought home... almost 2" long> ;-) |
