Here is an example where I took one of those cheap little miniature "picket" sections from a discount store and used it to form a division of sorts in a very wide bed (about 9 ft wide). It really helps to break it up, rather than just a mass planting. The final touch is some nice Oregon green algae that forms over the winter and a pruning from my pine tree layed across the top for a woodsy look. OK, Martha would probably come up with something better, but not by much! I have some tall lilies on the other side and shorter lilies and other plants and low ground cover in front.
