Plowdaddy wrote: Does anyone else use twine to hang hummingbird feeders? I was trying to figure out where I wanted to hang my hummingbird feeders. Well, I looked around and saw that my choices were very limited to house overhangs and trees. Well I wanted to put a feeder about two feet away from our patio covering, because when the hummers come to feed on a feeder under the covering, they are in the shade, and they look like black silhouettes. If I could put the feeder two feet out from the covering, we could see the actual colors of the hummingbirds. Well, I looked for two anchors and ran some twine between the two anchors. Well the hummers really seemed to rest on the string. I also discovered later that vines also use the string to climb upwards. If you get the black string, you will hardly notice it in the yard. Every once and a while you might be playing catch with a football or something and hit a string. Some people driving by have commented, "How do you get those feeders to hang in mid-air like that? Kinda funny. Anyway, here's some pics of what I am talking about. |
