And I have done pots with host and nectar plants in it. Your size pots sound great for doing something like that! Milkweed grows great in a container, but you have to be careful about overwatering it. Best to find out individual plant watering needs and group them together in a pot.

Here is one of my own favorites. (It's for butterflies and hummers.):
Red Salvia
Milkweed
Petunia
And I had added red Nasturtiums in there too, but they never germinated.
