There are ones that do not require the cold. Check around it see if there is some in Australia you could try. I see you pushing your zone with other plants. If you can get some try choosing a cooler shaded southern exposure(I guess that's right) northern for me. You can plant them deep and they will still have some blooms. Just a suggestion.
