It's not unusual to find eggs in the hay up in the barn or in the corner of a horse stall, etc. I was up just doing some general straightening and found momma in quiet corner where I store sawdust for the stalls. She didn't budge the whole time I was rattling around - not terribly unusual when a hen is busy poopin out an egg - but I got curious about this one. I gently lifted up a wing and sure enough - got me 4 little grandchicks!

I just never get tired of that - it's always an event! I fixed them up with a heat lamp and all the neccessities. You should see "Red", the monster quarter horse that has the stall next to momma hen - it is so cute to watch him stick his big ole head down there to check out those fuzzy little peeper thingys!
