Xeramtheum wrote: Does your lawn look like mine did last year? I seem to have the history of grass in my yard, Centipede, St. Augustine, Bahaia, Zoysia. Since I came from Florida where the mantra is "Cut High", I was feeding and cutting too high for Centipede which is what my front lawn is mostly comprised of .. my side lawn is mostly St. Augustine. My backyard is everything. I also called out some "lawn doctors" for a free estimate and to diagnose the problem .. just act like you might want their services .. that's how I found out I had the history of grass in my yard. Centipede does not like thatch, so I started cutting a lot lower. But first I took a rake and raked out all of the dead stuff and the thatch in the green stuff then took my fork and poked holes in the bare patches so water would percolate down.. I got a water timer and started watering an hour every morning. When I started to notice recovery, I cut back on the watering to every other day then I got some Turf Builder and spread that around. This year when I noticed some green poking up I watered it every day for a week to give it a good start, then left it on its own. X |
