Here is a better shot of 'Red Buttons'. I think that the corolla color can change with this one- mine are the solid dark red they are reported to be, with little mottling. The flowers of this one aren't ever really black, they just look very dark under certain lighting conditions. I haven't heard about the corona color varying, it has appeared to be a really nice sort of transparent looking dark red in all the photos I have seen. Annie knows a lot about the pubicalyx cv.s, I think, as she has written about them a lot. Maybe she will surface for a comment?
