Some of my plants are under an overhang (cantilever) of the house, and they still get some rain there, but if it pours and the gutters overflow, there is a dripline that I have to make sure the containers aren't directly beneath*. A jug of Rudbeckia seeds kind of got scrambled that way weeks ago and hasn't sprouted.
