Being kind to other living creatures, esp.when they are in trouble is usually taught at home and at school. There have been many stories told to kids with this moral. It does come in handy at one time or other.

This morning when I was having my coffee beside my pond, I noticed a large family of crows kaaawing and flying helter skelter. (As in this picture). They usually do this when one of their family is in trouble and I wondered. It kept doing at a particular spot over the trees next to ours, just across the cross street. I went there and saw a few passers-by looking up and making ready a thread. I too looked up in that direction and saw a poor crow being caught in a thread (as if in a net). That thread was of a cut-off kite that someone had flown sometime ago. There was the kite too caught in the top branches. This crow had been flying there and had got caught in this thread that had 'connected' to that tree to our tree, horizontally. The people tied a stone to the thread they were making ready and threw it over so that they could pull it down. But one end which was not 'secure' came down, making the effort worthless. The thread had twisted at the tip of the wings/feathers. The crow now saw the loose end and began breaking it with its beak and was successful!! The crow they say is the most intelligent bird. But it could not get released. One of the younger boys climbed the tree and tried to free the bird with a stick and even that was in vain. B y that time, I had to get in and get ready for work. In the meanwhile I took a few pictures knowing there was enough help being offered down there by 5-6 kind people. I knew they would free it and by the time I could start from home, the crow was free again. They sky was calm again.

This is what I saw when the crows were making their cries.
