I've been thinking about making a little hummer picture-taking shed, with some hanging plants set up about a foot or so away from a picture taking porthole. In my experience, the closer you get to your subject the better your chances at getting a good pic.

I nicknamed the little guy "Scraggley", since his feathers were usually ruffled, no doubt from all the fights he picked with any other hummer that dared to come by. Here's one of my favorite pics:
