These bigger trees usually have not been pruned in a long time, which is why they get so big. They branch every time they flower. There are plumeria trees in Florida and Southern California that are probably 30-40 years old. Here is a picture of a tree that I think is in Anaheim. I think someone named Jim took this picture.
