I read somewhere about the die-offs of this little sensitive-to-cold wren. Below is a graph that shows the ups and downs of the carolina wren population during the 1970's and early 80's. During the 1980's the population rebuilt until the bitter cold winter of 1993 when the carolina wrens were killed off by as much as 80 or 90 % in our region.
