Yeah nice catch for the hawk too, hehe! That happens a lot around here too.
A veritable fly through resturant for Coops and SS Hawks, lol!

Hey btw all! back there on the ID of the ycnh, ..If Sheila had not pointed it out, it would have gone right past me. Yet I have seen the ycnh and Ben and I are always in the books. That's a very striking bird as an adult, with the plume in the crown, and the mask... I first saw them a couple summers ago in a ditch in Southlake, (not too far from me). I think Sheila has seen them quite a bit too.. So thank her for that one:-)!
Honestly, when I saw that Resin had confirmed claypa, I didn't, or wouldn't have stopped to notice that it could be anything else. Then I looked in the 3 books and then ask.com on juv.ycnh, and there it was. Claypa, I lingerd on the white dots too, but the beak was the real tell tale for me this time.

Janet~We get daily visits from the hawks that prey on feeder birds. I can tell when they are out there because I will hear the terror & distress clearly in the sparows chirping, then it is followed by a dead silence. In the case of this pic he brazenly ate their cousin right there on the fence. That silence is a weird sound around here....unmistakable to me now. We do have lots of birds, as I still think people might be filling their feeders in Spring/Summer only. My neighbor next door and I always have full feeders.
