When I plant Lavenders, I always make sure that it has excellent drainage with 'all purpose' sand mixed into with the soil. It has to have 'lean' (not fertile) soil so that it will be able to stay on the dry side, esp. during Winter. Need to add pea gravel around plant and not wood/bark mulch.
