I have been growing a lot of plants for the past 10 years and aroids are my specialty. I have recently gotten more interest in orchids and bromeliads as well as gesneriads. I really enjoy the specie forms and the highly unusual rather than the african violet types. I have a rock wall that is 40 feet long 10 feet tall in a large greenhouse the low temps are 60f and the highs maybe 95 or lower around the wall. Their is a misting system that comes on every half hour for 15 seconds. I am looking for someone who may grow odd species that would have plants that would like this situation. I seem to be very fond of Columnea species and other small trailing or hanging varieties. The only hybrids I have seemed to like are of the episcias which I would also like to find more forms of. I like the more metallic to variegated forms it seems of these. If any of you are growing many of these and would be interested in a trade please let me know or if you know of a source for them. I am sure their are many other odd species that I do not know about but would love to find or hear about. I have many plants in my collection and a few gesneriads already and help would be great thanks. Here is a photo of some species I took photos of at Atlanta Botanical gardens recently. |
