See link: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/1334/index.html I had to laugh, because the description says to deadhead the flowers if you don't want seedlings. I've had this plant for at least 3 years and it grows slow and I've never, ever seen a seedling sprout up from it. In fact, I have never seen any seeds on it. I wonder if it has to be a certain size to produce seeds? I love it and saw a HUGE one a couple blocks away! Didn't know they got that big! I have heard that the hummers like it. I don't know about the hummers, but my snakes like it. They use it to shed their skin and to hide in. I am always extra careful around that plant and my large Cape Honeysuckle directly behind it. I call that corner of my yard the Snake Pit and also Hummer Garden! lol (Except of course ..... I have no hummers or any other birds for that matter. They just don't like my yard.) Here's a photo of a young Red Rat Snake crawling across my outside solar light into the Firecracker Plant. That's Plumbago plant in the front. I was out there moving some caterpillars around and glanced over and saw the snake! Made me jump. He didn't see me either until I shined the light on him. It's always interesting in my yard at night. Ya just never know what you are gonna find! LOL! This message was edited Jan 23, 2007 9:35 PM |
