I have not used it but interesting. Exspensive too. I'd love to try it for fun Bonnie ! Maybe we could have a forum activity and take notes , pictures would be very interesting and fun ! Thanks for bring this interesting topic up !
I hope you don't mind I'd like to ad to it :))

I have to feel that growing African violets by leaf is so easy is this really needed ? Maybe good for Chimerias ??
But Bonnie any fun way any way people enjoy progating African violets and most important sharing them is " Special" ! important , vital to keeping our wonderful AVSA , African violet World , Vintage, Rare , hard to find all African violets around for more generations to come !
I loved more than anything to grow African violets by leaf ! Each new baby excited me. Even better I enjoyed sharing them . I tried to give everyone a Vintage, Rare , Wasp, Trailer a variety to grow enjoy have fun . I loved sharing leaf sets too ! One leaf can mean 6-10 babies to share ! Sharing African violets is fun and important !
I have an old Ford Garden Guide about 47 years old.
It said 25 years ago which would have been 72 years ago there were a scant half-doze different African violets. Today ( meaning 47 years ago ) there we an estimated 3,500.
Today year 2007 there are about 30 thousand named African violets !
The book also says In a popularity poll conducted in 1958 49 years ago :)) by the 16,000-member African Violet Society of America , these were the African violet varieties that came out on top. Whi Madonna ( Great Av plant I grew several by leaf and shared some here on DG's anyone still growing her Great Vintage who have you shared her with :))
, Ohio Bountiful, Granger Garden's, Blue Nocturne, Bud's Strike Me Pink, White Pride, Black Magic ( Another great one I've grown and shared ), White Pride Supreme, Pink Miracle, Double Pink Cloud, Ruffled Queen, T-V Vallinpink, Snow Prince, Pink Cheer, Dixie Moonbeam.
**** Sad numbers I asked Joe Burns who ahead of the FC program how many member's are there of our AVSA now in 2007 !!
He said he was not sure the exact number but it was not where the number it was in 1958 and 60's. :((
He also said " Growing African violets was a big hobby back in 1960. Most horticultural societies are experiencing a decline in membership.:
A very good reason to progate your African violets , by leaf, suckers , using any method that works and is fun for you ! Even more so important is to share !
Who will you introduce Growing Fun and sharing African violets with in 2007 !
Are you growing a Vintage Av, Species, Wasp, Rare, Russian , a special plant to you that you can share leaf sets or babies !
Keeping these plants alive and growing so they don't get lost for the next generations of growers.
