It is about 12 years old now, is very pretty when it blooms. Has lots of fruits which must not be too attractive to the birds until after the berries have frozen. The Cedar Waxwings do not eat them, maybe too close to the house, as the Cedars sure like the small crabs on the 10 Prairie Fire Crabapples that make up my Crabapple allee. Here is a photo I took yesterday of a quail eating some of the few crabapples that are left on the Candied Apple. It was really funny to watch as all that are left are the ones on the tips of the limbs. They were also standing on their tippy toes on the piled up snow to try to reach some of the fruit on the lower limbs. Donna |
