When I was young I was always so insecure and embarassed about everything but since I started gardening I have turned over a new leaf. I've done several things that have given my neighbor (Gladys Kravitz) a good story or two.

My neighbors realized I was going to be different the first year I started planting because my daily attire was my swimsuit top, shorts and knee high rubber boots.

Next came the year of the grasshopper, which required me to wear my attire and carry a plastic baseball bat. I would have to go out early and beat them off my plants!

Then my first year of raising butterflies I had some caterpillars in a little bug hut on my porch. It suddenly started raining and the wind was terrible and it blew my bug hut away! So, I ran after it! (in my shorts and boots) I was soaked. Later I opened my front door to look out and there was such a loud noise that my ears started ringing and I couldn't hear for a few seconds. I learned the next day that lightening struck the neighbor's satelitte dish.

Last year when we had a flash flood after months of drought I had to go outside and do some damage control and reroute flooding water. It was lightening so I didn't want to use my umbrella so I wore my trusty boots and a waterproof jacket w/hood and carried a plastic garbage can lid over my head. LOL! (all while my husband watched me thru the window while he watched football)

Now tell me your stories!
