If your going to try this I would suggest drilling the side of the watering can, not the bottom. My neighbor also used large tubing on the watering can, not necessary, and harder to bend and cover. The pump I bought costed around $45.00, very small. Here's a pic of a diagram, and then I'll send pics of the pump and can.
