The white edges are sectioned like the turbine blades on a jet engine, the purple ring has flat edges where it joins the outer white part and each section is bordered to the centre spot. The whole centre part looks to be slightly bulbous, all a bit like a flying saucer!

It must be some sort of pollen, I don't think it would be a seed as the pic is much larger than reality.
