In the summer (we are in Dallas, Zone 7b, killer direct sunlight) I grow sweet potato vine over the fig ivy, and it prevents it from getting burned out. Also, there is red, purple, and white salvia interspersed amongst the vines. I will be removing the sweetpotato vine and planting some cyclamen and pansies, maybe some ornamental kale. The question is this: I recall either deadheading or "pulling" the salvia, but that it came back this summer. What is the preferred method, so that I can have the salvia come back again next summer when I re-plant the sweet potato vine? Thanks W Jones |
