For benches I use three sawhorses on each side, 1" X 2" slats across the sawhorses and hardware cloth over that. Then a couple of feet above that I installed brackets that support more slats and hardware cloth. With these two shelves on each side I have about 80 sq. ft. of shelf space. Nice for putting out my veggie and annual starts in the spring.
