Is this the first time you have grown them? Mine are still green and looking lush, but at this time of year they do tend to flatten a little, cold weather (if you're having any) may be to blame. They do die back for winter. I've not know rain to bother them much, if they are in the ground and well drained they cope better than in pots but should be about 6" deep.

When I first started mine off in the spring a few years ago now, I had them in the greenhouse. Any heat made them flop but they were OK once I planted them. They have self seeded around, all the spare gaps around my lilies and delphiniums are now filled in.
