I haver never been able to grow clamitis either, was told the roots have to be in total shade, whether this is so or not I do not know, in any case they always looked stragly and something ate them as fast as leaves or blossom appeared, I gave up after a few years. I saw one at a neighbors house it is just beautiful, all with prolific white blossoms completely hiding the garden arch.
You all have been busy posting while I was getting dinner ready for DD and SIL. Beef bourguinon was very good, worth all the work. Already did one load of dishes am too tired to to clean out the washer and start the next one. I do not know why I always have so many dishes to wash, must be because I use all the "soup to nuts things"
